Power Prices Increase AGAIN – 1st July 2016

Some of you may not yet have realised or been notified, but your electricity charges have increased yet again. As of 1st July 2016 you are being charged more per kWh than the previous financial year.

Below is an assessment of some of the common tariffs.

Tariff 11 – Residential

GST incl.

From 1 July 2015

From 1 July 2016

All usage – cents per KWh 24.46 INCREASE 2.6 cents 27.07
Supply Charge – per day $1.17 DECREASE  18 cents $0.99

As you can see, there has been an increase in the kWh charge, however the daily supply charge has decreased. Even the average family home that don’t consume a large amount of electricity will see an increase on their bill. Those hit hardest will be large families and households that consume large amounts of power.

Small Business Tariff

From 1 July 2016

Small business will see increases in their power bill adding to already inflated overhead costs. It is certainly a good time for business owners to consider these changes and look for ways to reduce their power consumption.
